More Than a Paddle: The Story Behind GRAFTON
GRAFTON began in 2022, when the world was reopening and everyone was looking for a way back - back outside, back into motion, back to each other. That's when my mom, Wendy, discovered pickleball, and pulled me in soon after.
What we found on the court was bigger than a sport. We found a shared passion, a reason to show up for each other, and a community we didn't know we'd been missing. Those early mornings turned out to be the beginning of everything.
“Why isn't anyone building a paddle that captures the real energy of this sport - modern, fast, and made with genuine intention?
The more we played, the more the gear nagged at us: flimsy, generic paddles that never lived up to the game. So Wendy and I made a decision - build something better. I started ordering paddles and cutting them open at my kitchen table, studying exactly where the corners had been cut.
Over the next year, we designed and tested hundreds of prototypes across our Maryland pickleball community, putting them in the hands of real players and asking for honest, unfiltered feedback. We listened, we adjusted, and we refined every detail - core, balance, texture, edge - until each paddle earned its place. We promised ourselves we'd never cut corners, and we never have.
